Last week I had a chance to attend a fun tasting event organized by the S.Pellegrino Taste Guide. The Taste Guide is an online resource for foodies who are interested in exploring major US cities from NYC to LA through the eyes of award-winning chefs.
We arrived a little late and had to wait in line before entering the star-shaped labyrinth with food stations set up by S.Pellegrino. It was a hot but beautiful day, and I and my husband really enjoyed the view of Hudson River and refreshing S.Pellegrino.
Once we were in, there were 4 food stations and 1 station to get some S.Pellegrino Natural Mineral Water. So what interesting and trending chefs April Bloomfield (The Spotted Pig and The Breslin) and Ludo Lefebvre (Trois Mec and Petit Trois) prepared for the guests?
1. Quail Egg. It was a slightly citrusy bite with cornmeal, mayo, eggs, lemon juice, and more. Very juicy and filling.
2. Scallops. The waiters were refilling the station when we arrived, so I shared this appetizer with my husband, and it was VERY good. The mahi-mahi fish was fresh and chilled, seasoned with lime juice, pineapple, and olive oil. Perfect appetizer for a hot summer day and those who love sashimi.
3. Beet Tostada. This one was Ralph’s favorite since he loves beets. Well seasoned beet salad with cornichons, avocado, and cilantro.
4. Tuna Tartare Tart. That’s my absolute winner. I’m a huge tuna fan, so a tuna appetizer is always a YES for me : ) There were tuna, eggs, grapeseed oil, lemons, capers, salt, shallots, cornichons, and some parsley. I’d really eat them all.
The chefs were at the end of the labyrinth ready to answer any questions about their food creations.
The waiters seemed quite energetic and served chilled S.Pellegrino to help the guests and chefs fight the insane heat.

Thank you! If only the sun was less brutal, it would be much much nicer, but the food was great!

I usually drink regular water but now appreciate the slightly salty taste of S.Pellegrino 🙂
