My Simple Winter Makeup Routine

My Simple Winter Makeup Routine by Smile Is It ( 1

With the cool air of winter outdoors and heaters being constantly on indoors, winter inevitable affects my skin complexion leaving it tight, rough, and very dry. I usually switch to all types of moisturizing serums and creams and ditch powders and most foundations that make any imperfections even more visible during the winter season.

This month I had a chance to try Hydro Boost line of makeup by Neutrogena that was created specifically for those whose skin is dry and/or dehydrated.

I picked a conditioning lip gloss and a moisturizing tint to plump my skin. The Hydro Boost skincare and makeup line contains hyaluronic acid that helps to boost hydration to leave you with smoother, more supple skin. It helps to replenish the water that your skin naturally loses due to lack of sleep, stress, exercise and not drinking enough water.

The moisturizing Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint is essentially a mix of a moisturizer and a lightweight foundation that hydrates for 24 hours for a fresh look all day. The Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Shine is a conditioning lip gloss that helps to hydrate and plump your lips all day. They have 8 shiny shades available. I picked Radiant Rose #50.

Being a work-at-home mom, I usually stick to the simplest skincare and makeup regimens that are easy to maintain. See my 6-step SUPER EASY routine below.

By the way, Neutrogena has a variety of different cosmetic products that cater to different skin types. If your skin is rather oily and acne prone, have a look at SkinClearing line that was designed to fight breakouts.

To summarize, Hydro Boost gets all my love for not just making my skin look better but also for being two – skincare and makeup – in one. Of course, sometimes I wear more makeup but when you have just 20 minutes for yourself in the morning, going with a simple routine is the way!

Here is my super simple winter skincare/makeup routine that helps me to get through the winter:

  1. Wake up, have a glass of warm water with lemon
  2. Wash my face with a gentle cleanser (see my prior post on recommendations)
  3. Apply light moisturizer like Hydro Boost Water Gel
  4. Apply Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint instead of a regular foundation
  5. Apply hydrating lip gloss like Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Shine
  6. Wash everything off in the evening and pamper me with an overnight gel mask
