A Fun Movie Night Idea or Que Leon Movie Review

A Fun Movie Night Idea Que Leon Movie Review by Smile Is It (1)

I worked with Spanglish Movies, LLC on this post. All opinions are solely my own.

What were you up to this weekend? Isabelle spent too much time playing outside and fell asleep early, so I had a couple extra hours for myself and decided to watch some good movie. I like different genres but fun romantic comedies are one of my favorite ones. I was recently contacted by Spanglish Movies, LLC who wanted me to review their new love story Que Leon. A love story? I’m all the way in right away! : )

Que Leon - Raymond

Wait, no, it was not like that : )))

Que Leon is a romcom with a story that happened in the Dominican Republic, a beautiful year-round summer paradise. I haven’t yet been to DR yet but definitely added it to my vacation list after the movie. So what’s so special about Que Leon? I liked quite a few things including the beautiful scenery, funny and cheerful actors, and the meaningful message.

I found Que Leon to be a very light and sweet comedy that makes you forget about everything and just enjoy the movie. However, expect to see some drama too. Love, jealousy, two different ways of life, everything takes place here.

It is a high-quality film with talented actors. Even though I don’t speak Spanish and was watching the movie with subtitles, I was laughing so loud that I‘m sure my neighbors were wondering what’s going on, haha. Love all the passion and good play that sometimes doesn’t even require translation.

Jose Miguel parents’ relationship is so cute. Kind of similar to how I and my husband are going sometimes. Just like many parents, they think their love story is totally different than the one happening to their kid.

  • You’ve never been in love? Didn’t you feel the same when you first saw mom?
  • I knew it, but it’s not the same.

Every good movie gives us a lesson, even the funniest comedy. My favorite part in Que Leon is the small talk about happiness. It’s small but is so true.

  • What do you do for life?
  • I’m an Uber driver.
  • Well…. if it makes you happy….
  • The thing is, happiness is in the little things.

And I 100% agree that “Happiness can only be given by the one who has it.”

There are some unexpected moves in the film that I totally didn’t predict. I’m sure you’ll be surprised too.

If you are in a mood for a good romantic comedy, I highly recommend Que Leon. And after you go to the theater or rent it, please let me know who was your favorite character.

The movie, directed by Frank Perozo with famous DR rapper Ozuna playing the main character, premieres in the US on January 24. I did a little research and found out that the premiere will take place in 16 states and 35 cities, including New York, New Jersey, Boston, Florida, Texas, California, and Las Vegas. Trust me, you don’t want to miss it.

Btw, you can already pre-order your movie tickets on Fandango. I hope you’ll enjoy Que Leon as much as I did!

  1. I must admit I am not a fan of rom-coms actually, I can watch them but still, it’s not my go to pick, but people like different things, and yes happiness is in the little things, just do what makes you happy and don’t listen to anyone who tells you otherwise 😉

    1. I’m in New York. I honestly can’t find this movie with English subtitles. I rented it but it comes with no English subtitles I don’t know Spanish. I was going to buy the DVD I saw one copy on eBay the buyer said there’s no English subtitles. I also can’t get it off of Amazon it’s in Espanol cc. I’m finding it incredibly hard to get an English subtitled que leon version. If anyone knows a site I can go please let me know. I really really want to see it but English subtitled versions I can’t find.

  2. I just love movie nights. Thanks for sharing the movie recommendation. As I am a movie buff, I would definitely give it a go.

  3. I’ve heard of this movie but skipped out on it because romantic comedies are not my thing. But, it does sound like a great film for those who like it.

    Thanks for sharing! x
