When I go grocery shopping for my family, I try my best to buy fresh healthy and if possible organic products as much as I can. Spending a fortune on grocery is never on my agenda. After all, I need something left for my fashion cravings, especially during a holiday season. This is when BJ’s Wholesale Club comes first to mind for shopping on a budget.
I recently went to BJ’s Wholesale in Brooklyn, NY and managed to find Mediterranean risotto with vegetables, jumbo pack of seasoning, 2lb of fresh yellow cherry tomatoes, 2lb of sliced Swiss cheese, multigrain organic bread, 36 snack packs of organic graham crackers, and a new Barbie doll for Isabelle – all for under $50!
If you are not a member of BJ’s Wholesale yet, make sure to at least try it out and see the prices yourself. I have a special FREE 3-month membership pass for you:

There is nothing fancy about the store, but you’ll surely find lots of quality groceries at reasonable prices. I was mostly looking for organic/non-GMO products that were cheaper at BJ’s than in other grocery stores. Look what I spotted:
12-pack organic Mac&Cheese for $13.49
2.5lb organic quinoa for $8.99
0.5lb organic pine nuts for $9.99
2lb oragnic peanut butter for $8.99
1lb organic multigrain bread for $2.99
2lb organic graham crackers for $13.49. Those are my 2-year-old’s favorite.
2lb fresh Muenster cheese for $6.99
Lots of frozen food choices.
Some lovely Christmas wreaths.
BJ’s has great gift options for the whole family. I found cute Barbie dolls and Disney princesses for Isabelle for unbelievable prices. There were also toys for boys, jewelry, clothing, greeting cards, and electronics, including a stand with FitBit.

By the way, my local BJ’s in Brooklyn, NY has no plastic bags whatsoever. If you go there for the first time, make sure to bring some reusable bags or get ready to carry your purchases in boxes. This is a great initiative for New York where almost all stores double bag your purchases 🙁
Let me know what did you find at BJ’s 🙂

Great post, I really enjoyed reading it 🙂
Thank you Anne!
I have a problem because when I go to do groceries my idea is to buy healthy stuff but in the end I end up with bad stuf..
I always try to stick to healthy stuff except for when it comes to sweets 🙁
This is a great way to save money, especially during the expensive holiday season!
I totally agree 🙂
Love this!! We do almost all of our shopping in bulk! I like that it means less trips to the store! My son loves all the Annie’s products too!!
Haha! Yes, I got this huge box for Isabelle, and she was dancing when she saw it :)))
We don’t have that store here in the Midwest. We do have other comparable stores similar I like to shop in.
I agree, there are quite a few different stores that are similar to BJ’s 🙂
We grow a lot of our own food but buy a lot of bulk as well. It really helps!
I wish I could grow something too, but it’s almost impossible when you live in a tiny apartment in big city.
That’s awesome! I don’t have a BJ’s where I live, but I have been meaning to get a membership to a bulk store. I spend too much money at the grocery store and need to buy more stuff in bulk. Thanks for sharing!
These are definitely some great tips for saving this season.
Thank you Kristine!
I love shopping bulk! We have a Costco membership and will definitely be taking advantage of it, as well as their pre-prepared meals since I am having a baby RIGHT after Christmas!!!
This post was right on time today. I struggle with trying to stay on a budget when it comes to grocery shopping. If it isn’t Walmart I always find myself spending a fortune in other grocery stores its ridiculous! Places like BJ’s & Sam’s Club is where I need to start shopping because my family sure can eat and its just stressful every time I have to run to the grocery store cuz we have no more food lol I should only have to go shopping each month no more than TWICE! and with me changing my diet to more healthier choice of foods I really appreciate you sharing this!
I totally agree on grocery shopping once a month, and I like that big wholesale stores have more and ore healthy options nowadays 🙂
Great tips, unfortunately I’m too faraway 🙂 Specially the pine nuts are at an extraordinary price and love that there are so many organic products.
I was specifically looking for organic non-GMO products 🙂
We don’t have a BJ’s, but I have a Costco membership and you can always find great deals there too! Love wholesale stores!
Same here. Thank you for stopping by Joscelyn!
It is a very practical post, I learned a lot from it.
