Must Haves for Fall/Winter Skincare Routine

My skincare routine is usually very simple and includes facial wash (regular), icing (not regular), serums (not regular), and face and eye creams (regular). With fall in full swing, winter approaching, and my skin being dry, I felt the need to add some new beauty products to keep my face as fresh, moisturized and radiant as possible.

Exuviance Purifying Cleansing Dermatology Facial Gel

STEP 1. Cleansing

Cleansing is always the first step of any skincare routine, and choosing the right cleanser is essential. I liked Exuviance Purifying Cleansing Gel, because it’s soap-free and doesn’t make my skin feel dry like most of other cleansing gels do. This product easily removes my makeup without changing skin’s natural moisture balance. It contains AHA/PHA ingredients to exfoliate and clarify. After I wash my face with Exuviance gel, I feel fresh skin that is not tight which automatically makes this product A+ in my beauty wish list.

PROS:

– Formulated with anti-aging AHA and PHA to exfoliate and clarify
– Soap-free
– Conditioners soothe and improve texture
– Non-drying (even for dry skin!)
– For all skin types, including sensitive skin
– Dermatology and allergy tested

CONS:

– It’s a bit on the expensive side for a cleansing gel, but, hey, quality beauty products do cost more.

Exfolimate Cleansing Facial Device

Step 2. Exfoliate

What do you use to exfoliate your skin? I used konjac sponges until I discovered Exfolimate. This device is so worth to try! I thought at first it’s a razor, but it’s not. Exfolimate was designed with micro grooves and smooth edge technology. You just gently swipe it against wet skin and can instantly see how cleaner your skin is. I find Exfolimate pretty unique, and it’s made to last.

Step 3. Microneedling (NEW and MUST HAVE)

You’ve provably already heard about microneedling and dermarollers. I’ll be honest, this dermaroller by Skin Deva was my very first one, so I ordered the smallest needles 0.5mm (there are also 0.75mm and 1.0mm). Yes, I was a little nervous. Look how dermarollers are described:

“Dermaroller is a skin needling device with many small surgical needles. It remoulds the skin by creating thousands of microscopic channels through it and activates your body’s own healing methods.”

Sounds intimidating, I know, but I was curious enough about the device to give it a try. The roller was packed in a box and fully sealed like a proper medical device. It also comes with a clear plastic box for storage. You suppose to apply dermaroller once your skin is clean and ready for serum or cream. Guys… I love my roller! To me, it feels like some type of facial massage. There is certainly a difference in applying serums and creams after a dermaroller. I think I literally felt them working. I should note that you have to be careful and gentle and avoid to use dermaroller on delicate skin around eyes. Aside form that, I’ve been using the roller for the last 2 weeks with various serums and love it so far. The plus is that it’s only $15.

Step 4. Serums

Skin Deva Hyaluronic Acid Facial Serum

Hyaluronic Acid Serum by Skin Deva

I loved Skin Deva from the moment I visited their website for the fact that their products are made in the US, non-GMO, vegetarian, and cruelty-free. The label states all the ingredients which are only 8, including water and glycerin. The serum has Hyaluronic acid (for hydrating), matrixul 3000 (for anti-wrinkle effect) and vitamin C (to even skin tone and build collagen) among active ingredients. The texture is light and clear without any defined smell. My skin felt light and fresh after I used the product. The serum is claimed to be anti-aging treatment with maximum moisture which is ideal for my dry skin.

PROS:
– non-GMO
– vegetarian
– cruelty free
– made in the USA
– leaves your skin with amazing fresh feeling

I didn’t find any cons in this product. I even gave it to my mom who has mixed skin to try, and she loved it too.

Available at: Skin Deva ($19.99)

Buena Skin Triple C Vitami C Facial Serum

Triple C Serum by Buena Skin

The idea of triple C serum by Buena Skin that is supposed to be three times more effective than regular vitamin C serums was interesting. The bottle comes with a separate dropper. I love that Buena Skin is cruelty free and made in the US. The label states all the ingredients, and more than half of the ingredients are organic (huge plus). The serum itself is brownish in color and smells a bit too strong for me. Immediately after use of the product my skin felt fresh yet very tight. I have dry skin already, so not the feeling I’d like. However, my mom fell in love with Triple C Serum. You might like the serum if your skin is mixed, normal or oily.

PROS:
– made with certified organic ingredients
– cruelty free
– made in the USA
– 3 times more effective than regular vitamin C serums (as claimed by the company)

CONS:
– smell is a bit too strong for me
– tight feeling after use of the product

I’m still considering trying other products from Buena Skin line since I love the company’s cruelty free + made in USA policy and the usage of organic ingredients.

Valencia Night Revive Retinol Premium Facial Serum

Night Revive Retinol Serum by Valentia

If serums with vitamin C are mostly for morning application, I stick to retinol ones like Night Revive Retinol Serum by Valencia at night. Why do I like it? It fights wrinkles and provides hydration (yay for dry skin!), for visibly smoother, rejuvenated skin. Combined with dermaroller treatment, that was a great addition to my fall skincare routine.

PROS:
– made with organic ingredients
– vegetarian
– cruelty free
– made in the USA

Let me know if you tried any of these products and what you think about them, and, of course, don’t forget to always apply cream after serums : )
